Fulfilling A Dream
Joshua Fuhrer becomes one of Aerosim’s High School Senior Merit Scholarship Winners
He’s been preparing for this moment for most of his life. Joshua Fuhrer’s passion for aviation began at the early age of 5, when his father took him out in his Avid Flyer MkIV to conquer his fear of heights. Joshua was amazed at how quickly that feeling of fear was replaced by the feeling freedom.
“I felt like I could go anywhere, and from that moment forward I knew the aviation industry was where my dreams lied,” Joshua said.
After that first flight, Joshua’s desire to work in the aviation industry only grew. Every Memorial Day and Father’s day Joshua’s family would attend local fly-ins. “The early morning dew combined with the smell of freshly cut grass made for a feeling of sheer excitement,” Josh recalled. And while the pancakes and bacon at the events filled Joshua’s stomach, it was being able to meet and speak with the pilots that were doing what he could only dream about, that filled his soul.
“I have met so many amazing pilots and people through my life, and I cannot wait to meet many more that share my obsession and vigorous attitude toward flying,” Joshua remarked.
Joshua knew that the road ahead to fulfil his dream of becoming a pilot was going to be challenging, but to that he said “bring it on”. He looked for a school that would help him conquer those challenges, while also giving him the best education and flight training he could receive, which led him to Aerosim Flight Academy.
Joshua was impressed by Aerosim’s history of being created by an airline and felt that the Academy would help him to best reach his goals. “Aerosim’s foundation of being created by an airline means the training is already tailored specifically to the jobs I would be looking for once my training is complete,” Joshua said.
He decided to apply for Aerosim Flight Academy’s High School Senior Merit Scholarship –“This scholarship would help make my dream of flying and doing what I love for the rest of my life come true,” Joshua said.
This is the second year that Aerosim Flight Academy has offered the High School Senior Merit Scholarship program, which is the first of its kind in the pilot training industry. The scholarship program is designed to offer financial assistance to qualified individuals passionate about a career in aviation. Joshua is coming to the Academy already with his Private Pilot certificate, and has been awarded $25,000 towards his tuition for flight training at Aerosim.
